We have just spent 2 days with vertexAQ guru Steve Elford, and he has once again proved why the often forgotten arena of noise (vibrational and RF) / interference management is one of the most fundamental platforms to coaxing the highest level of musicality from your system components.
Starting with the infrastructure outside the signal path, and in particular the dissipation of vibrational noise from individual components, Steve proved that a systematic approach, and a disciplined implementation of their products can have significant improvements to the musicality to your system.
Time and time again, Steve was able to lower the 'noise floor', reducing the coloration of the presentation, allowing the listener to get ever closer to the origins of the track as the artist originally intended - we both discovered parts of Patricia Barbers 'Mythologies' which we genuinely had not heard before - incredible.
It is very easy to consider the latest CD Player or Amplifier currently in vogue to take ones system forward - these items are sexy and have an inherent 'show-off' appeal, but as Steve clearly demonstrated in our own demo room "sometimes it's the bits behind the curtains that have the greater impact".
