... smooth and clean, having a nice svelte quality... trumpets and trombones sounding rich and fruity... smooth, easy-going yet refined. Vinyl surface noise ticks and pops were seemingly absent... the Quintet Bronze brought it into the room with alacrity.

... a trumpet solo coming over as clear and crisp. The orchestra remained composed and clean to the very end... vocals were smooth and her final sustained high came across with a confident power lovely performance... superb from LP inner grooves.

What I was hearing from this cartridge was... a lovely sense of body and refinement. Warm balance is beguiling. The Quintet Bronze was superb.

The lush sound of the recording was "enhanced in lushness"... full-bodied... analog-like... great stage depth... Lovely and gorgeous! Everything you could wish for...

It is supremely smooth in sound, full bodied and deep in sound stage. With a stylus that gets the best from inner grooves this is a moving coil that offers a great analogue experience. I just relaxed and enjoyed it.

EXCELLENT - extremely capable.

VERDICT - Smooth, lustrous vinyl sound with fine sense of depth. Laid back rather than fast.

About the brand

On the 9th of October 1918, the two Danish engineers, Axel Petersen (1887-1971) and Arnold Poulsen (1889-1952) founded the Electrical Phono Film Company with a few capable and foresighted businessmen who would support the organization financially.

Their aim was to explore the possibility of high-class recording and developing one of the first synchronized sound film systems in the world. Under primitive conditions, the two Danish engineers and their small staff had to solve a number of what were considered insuperable problems.

Today Ortofon is a micro-mechanical powerhouse, which develops, manufactures and markets the world acclaimed Ortofon phono cartridges and components for the Hearing Aids industry. We benefit from being established in Denmark, a country recognized for its strong tradition in acoustics and its wealth of other high-end manufacturers, who make hearing aids and acoustic measurement equipment, in addition to all aspects of high-end audio.

Ortofon is owned by Danish businessmen and employs a staff of about 150 people. The Ortofon manufacturing unit in Nakskov in the south of Denmark has modern machinery combined with experienced operators, so human craftsmanship is delivered with uniform industrial quality.

'In Stock' items ordered before 1pm will be dispatched the same day.

We use DPD Local 'Next Day Service' for most UK deliveries. Orders sent via 'DPD Local - Next Day Service' will be fully tracked with a 1-hour delivery timeslot on the day of delivery. Standard delivery is Monday to Friday.

Saturday delivery can be selected at checkout for £19.95.

Small items and LP's may be sent using Royal Mail.

Large/heavy items may be sent using TNT Express.
