Chord's first venture into the controversial world of hi-fi power cables began with the their Power Chord. With the knowledge wed gained from the development of high frequency effective shielding Chord were finally able to produce a power cable that was consistent in performance from system to system. The shielding was the easy bit. Chord learned an awful lot more strange things in the development process. Chord were truly shocked at the silence between notes and how much it added to the musical experience.

While this was happening, Chord were for the first time developing UK mains and IEC plugs of Chord's own design. That was a really big deal. Heavily silver plated contacts and fitted with silicone damping to minimise vibration between the top and bottom section of the mains plug and more silver-plating on the IEC as well. From all of this came the Signature ARAY Power Cable. Fitted with Chord's new silver-plated mains and IEC plugs and using an ARAY conductor configuration along with a dual layer shield featuring 95% coverage high density braid.

When you fit a Signature ARAY Power Cable its easy to hear whats suddenly missing. Noise! That lack of noise means more music and more of all the really beautiful stuff. Its the dying tones of piano notes, the real attack of a snare drum or the brittle aggression of a Fender Telecaster being played on its bridge pickup. Borrowing a Signature ARAY Power cable from your local retailer for the weekend and connecting to your source component is likely to be an enlightening experience. Why the source component? because if you reduce the interference entering the source component, youll hear it through the whole system. That doesnt mean that adding more wont make things any better, it will. Chord regularly use Chord's CD transport to demonstrate just what one power cable in a system can do and when the listener is in a suitable state or shock Chord add them to the rest of the system! Were not making magic with power cables were just using an awful lot of experience to make cables that will makes your system sound more musical, so go have a listen.

About the brand

The Chord Company was formed in 1984. It all started over dinner one night in Salisbury, when a group of visiting Naim Audio USA retailers asked Naim Audio UK for a good-quality DIN-to-RCA interconnect. At the table, was one Sally Gibb, then married to a Naim Audio executive, who made the (historic) suggestion that she make the cables and start a business. With the blessing of Naim Audio, the journey to make cables for America began.

With USA referring to cables as ‘cords’, the name The Chord Company, with its obvious musical connotations, seemed perfect and it quickly stuck. Sally drew a logo, designed the packaging and started testing prototypes. Completely British design and construction, although difficult to source at the time, was paramount and days of searching eventually led to suppliers of sufficient quality. Friends at Naim Audio provided expertise and advice, with many of them helping to build the cables.

The first prototype was named "Chrysalis Cable" and the Americans swiftly returned with an initial order of 250! Cables were built, tested, packed and taken along to the Post Office. Invoices were typed on a typewriter! After two steady years, The Chord Company got its first press review (by Malcolm Steward) and then the phone started to ring…

Delivery is free for all orders over £250.

'In Stock' items ordered before 1pm will be dispatched the same day.

We use DPD Local 'Next Day Service' for most UK deliveries. Orders sent via 'DPD Local - Next Day Service' will be fully tracked with a 1-hour delivery timeslot on the day of delivery. Standard delivery is Monday to Friday.

Saturday delivery can be selected at checkout for £19.95.

Small items and LP's may be sent using Royal Mail.

Large/heavy items may be sent using TNT Express.
