... the headphone seems to dissolve away to allow me to simply enjoy the music... the Ether 2 propels me through the music... really gets my feet tapping. The performance is quite three dimensional with well-defined instruments, while the tuneful double bass is clearly located on the right-hand side of the soundstage with drums placed on the left just behind the central piano. Vocal performances are captivating... a remarkably smooth and easy-going sound... instruments have their own clearly defined position and the piano is believable and refined... actually seems to have a presence in my room as it appears to step outside of the earpieces... the timing of the double bass is spot on. Orchestral pieces are a treat for my ears... delivered with plenty of authority. Strings are clear and refined and not at all edgy harsh... instruments are well dispersed across the soundstage... great air and space around the instruments... it's equally at homoe with rock as it is classical... everything sounds entirely musical. In terms of sound quality, it's money well spent and performs well across a wide variety of musical styles with a presentation that is effortless and clear.

...hear both a full tonal quality and surrounding ambience. The Ether 2 does extremely well to capture soundstage detail and specific instrumental separation. These are tuneful headphones which will draw you into the musical performance. Bass response was good. All the channel effects and the lyrics were clearly positioned. The stereo separation allowed every percussion detail to register extreme left-right placing. The expressive vocals and expansive acoustic space of 'Wuthering Heights' contrasting with the intimate close-up 'Cloudbusting' both tracks setting my feet tapping. Rich detail soundstage and proper timbral accuracy. Made for a stirring listening experience. The sound of the Steinway, recorded at Teldex Studios in Berlin, was both rounded and pleasingly full, yet at the same time light and airy.

About the Brand

About the brand

Dan Clark Audio, formally known as MrSpeakers, was founded almost in 2012 by Dan Clark. Audio has been Danâ€™s passion since he was four years old and rocked out air-guitar to The Beatles on his dadâ€™s McIntosh tube amp and Wharfedale speakers. During college he worked in a high-end retail audio boutique and focused his studies on analog power amplifiers.

Dan received a BS in engineering from Swarthmore College and an MBA from San Jose State University and Apple Computer. He then spent 30 years in high-tech managerial and executive roles, working in companies ranging from small startups to Apple Computer, Compaq and Sun Microsystems. Stimulating work, but Dansâ€™ real passion was still Music and Audio Engineering was calling him.

In the late 1990â€™s, Dan started work as a loudspeaker design consultant for several high-end audio companies, developing products including the critically acclaimed Platinum Audio series 2 loudspeakers.

As the personal audio market exploded with the advent of innovative devices like the Apple iPod and smartphones, Dan became interested in the associated headphone market and in 2008 began working on modifying and improving headphones for personal enjoyment. He joined a community of enthusiasts who modified headphones where he both learned and shared a lot about the craft.

In April 2012 he founded MrSpeakers to bring his ideas to market. Initially, MrSpeakers modified headphones made by other vendors for resale, a solution that allowed Dan to fund development of his own ground-up designs without incurring debt or seeking funding from investors.

Initially Dan focused on a specific problem: how to make closed headphones sound more "open" while delivering the isolation many headphone users required. The result was the worldâ€™s first 3D printed headphone, the Alpha Dog, a lively and fun headphone. The Alpha Dog revenues funded the development of MrSpeakersâ€™ first in-house headphone, ETHER, and from there MrSpeakers became a leading manufacturer of planar magnetic headphones, winning awards and accolades from all around the globe.

In 2019 MrSpeakers became Dan Clark Audio, and today is an industry leader in both open and closed planar headphones.

Dan Clark Audio has secured six patents for technology and design incorporated into our proprietary headphones. Dan Clark Audioâ€™s emphasis on balancing sonic performance, comfort and value, with Made In USA quality, has resulted in dozens of industry honors for top quality, from organizations as diverse as "hi-fi+" to "The absolute sound," "HFN," and The New York Times Wirecutter.

'In Stock' items ordered before 1pm will be dispatched the same day.

We use DPD Local 'Next Day Service' for most UK deliveries. Orders sent via 'DPD Local - Next Day Service' will be fully tracked with a 1-hour delivery timeslot on the day of delivery. Standard delivery is Monday to Friday.

Saturday delivery can be selected at checkout for £19.95.

Small items and LP's may be sent using Royal Mail.
