Grado Signature S950 Headphones
The Signature S950, the second in Grado’s new Signature line after the HP100 SE, features a Brazilian Walnut housing— a first for Grado. Known for its unique sonic qualities, this wood gives the S950 a distinct sound signature, contrasting the analytical HP100 SE’s machined aluminium design, while staying true to Grado’s tradition of crafting class-leading wood headphones.
Made from Brazilian walnut
Lightweight but durable, the Signature S950 is crafted from Brazilian Walnut. Weighing only 395 grams it offers a comfortable fit and reduced fatigue for those long listening sessions. The wood grain of each individually crafted housing is never identical, bringing a special one-of-kind quality to each build. Walnut, known for its density and resistance to decay, has been chosen for a relaxed musical presentation and stability. The lack of expansion and contraction due to changes in temperature or humidity helps maintain the acoustical characteristics. Brazilian Walnut is grown in the tropical rain forests of the Amazon, and sustainable practices help protect the ecosystems in the area.
New speaker design
The Signature S950 features Grado’s 52mm S driver, delivering high-frequency detail, smooth midrange, and powerful bass with minimal distortion. A paper composite cone, rare-earth magnetic circuit, and copper-plated aluminium voice coil enhance dynamics and soundstage. The S950 offers a more neutral, balanced sound for a relaxed and immersive listening experience, when compared to the HP100 SE’s detailed, revealing and accurate performance.
Quality detachable cables
The Grado Signature S950 retains detachable cables, first introduced with the HP100 SE. The S950 includes a 6-foot, 6.3mm-terminted Grado Signature Gold cable with a softer, durable braided design and improved insulation. It connects via a 4-pin mini XLR, with future cables offering 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm balanced terminations in various lengths. These detachable cables let users customize their headphones for optimal compatibility and personal preference.
Comfortable headband design
The Signature S950 features Grado’s new headband, first seen on the HP100 SE, with 50% more padding for comfort and long-listening session. A stainless-steel band and adjustable rods ensure a secure fit. Engraved aluminium-alloy gimbals and a stable stainless-steel height rod limit housing rotation to 105 degrees, reducing wear and enhancing durability.
