EVERYTHING AUDIO NETWORK - STELLAR SOUND AWARD
The KLH Kendall three-way, floor-standing loudspeaker is attractive, performs as claimed and its price cannot be beat for a full-sized tower. From the casual listener on a budget to the serious audiophile who desires a cost-effective, hi-fi speaker for a small-to-medium room, this tower should be on your short list. It receives our Everything Audio Network Stellar Sound and a nomination to the EAN Speaker of the Year list, which will be revealed in December. Way to go, KLH. Henry would be proud of the Kendall.

The new KLH represents a rebirth of an iconic audio brand, no question. The quality of the company’s Kendall towers comes as a surprise, even taking into account the large number of legitimately great speakers I hear each and every year. This is a new high bar for 3-way towers in this price range, no question.
The true value of the Kendall towers rests in the fact you can buy a pair, plus an AVR that offers room correction, and you’ll easily hear a level of audio fidelity that’s elusive at considerably higher price points. Why? Because these are easy-to-drive 8-ohm speakers that play deep, loud, and yet do not skimp on the finesse. They form a rock-solid foundation for any system, whether it’s for music or for AV.
The bass extension of these towers is uncommon even at higher price points and has a quality to it that I would normally associate with premium subwoofers. It just goes to show that a speaker does not have to possess some esoteric new design, weigh 500 pounds and be made of solid aluminum in order to kick ass. The KLH Kendalls is a well-executed 3-way tower and an express pass to attainable high-performance sound. This speaker is a no-brainer Top Choice for 2019.

With a funky name, and brand recognition more purchased than built by its present owners, it would be easy to dismiss the KLH Kendall as a generic floorstander with a pretty face. The resuscitated KLH has clearly invested a lot of money and talent into ensuring that their new flagship tower speaker sounds as if it belongs in a conversation about such established audio names as Elac, KEF, and Monitor Audio. Then there are its good looks, great build quality, and nearly full-range frequency response. Add to all of that an industry-leading ten-year warranty, and it’s easy to see that this KLH tower offers tremendous value. The Kendall is part of an auspicious first effort by the reinvigorated KLH, and I suspect it will be a rousing success with both the audiophile and home-theater crowds.
As I typed the final words of this review, Roon began playing Mase’s “Welcome Back” through the KLH Kendalls. Couldn’t have said it better.

If the plan is to enter a market ignored for decades and take on a host of well-loved, dug-in brands, this is the way to do it. The Kendall is an exciting floorstander with impressive bandwidth capability that offers outstanding sound quality for the money in a package that looks smart and is well made. There are gifted British rivals, some of which are a little prettier, but the tall and talented KLH has an awful lot going for it and is very easy to recommend.

born to deliver an expansive, full-range sound... fab low-frequency grip arising... a lovely, natural tonal palette. great transparency, locked down timing and the ability to resolve as... potent, talented and dynamic... lively, open midband and smooth, well-extended and, when required, weighty and propulsive bass. KLH is an impressively articulate speaker; too, easily resolving nuances of phrasing and tempo tweaks... a sonorous period swagger that the Kendall captures beautifully. Free from grain and coarseness, detail isn't presented in flashing, neon-lit capitals but as integral - the lubricant that makes the sound mesh and flow without sounding artfully hyped, sense of assurance and authority that's smooth and tuneful and involves you with the music in a physical way.
The Kendall is particularly adept at marshaling the competing strands into a cohesive whole in which the emotional dynamic ebbs and flows unhindered and with its fair share of gloriously scalp-tingling moments.
Deliciously smooth, even, agile and extended. The Kendall is another exciting example of a floorstander with impressive bandwidth capability that offers outstanding sound quality. Very easy to recommend.
Great balance of sonic virtues; musical to the core
