Metal Feet
Damped & height adjustable
The new Debut Carbon Evo stands on three height adjustable damped aluminium feet to guarantee the perfect stand.

1,7 kg Platter
Heavy steel and TPE damped Pro-Ject added a TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) ring on the inside of the platter. The result is an even quieter and noiseless operation with less wow and flutter.

The rocker switch on the bottom of the turntable allows you to change speeds with the push of only a single button.

Redesigned motor suspension
Pro-Ject used Pro-Ject's technology and experience gained from the past and fit damping techniques of highend turntables into the Debut Carbon EVO. Looking at more advanced TPE damping and highmass sandwich constructions Pro-Ject were able to come up with a new motor and suspension solution for the Debut Carbon EVO.

Anytime the perfect stand
Pro-Ject's new Debut Carbon EVO does not just look great - it also always stands perfectly level. It uses 3 height adjustable heavy-duty metal feet to ensure a level positioning on every surface.

Controlled playback speeds
Besides being able to effortlessly change replay speeds with the push of a button, the playback speed is electronically controlled with the utmost precision, which results in the most accurate and stable speeds.

Damped from the inside
Pro-Ject's previous metal platter was already heavier than anybody elses on the market, but metal platters inherently have a disadvantage: resonance.

Pro-Ject's TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) technology now helps to damp the resonance completely and also increases the weight to 1,7 kg. Because the TPE is mounted to the inside of the platters rim, the moving energy will also create a flywheel effect. The result is an even quieter and noiseless operation with less wow and flutter.

Clean look & new colours
You wont find any button, switch or printing on the plinth to ensure the luxurious aesthetics. The speed control switch has been moved to the bottom of the plinth, to keep the clean look the Debut is known for.

The Debut Carbon EVO is not only timeless by offering traditional high-gloss black, white and red finishes or Pro-Ject's fabled real-wood walnut veneer. Completely new, unique and trend-setting are the beautifully realized satin signature finishes in 5 different variations.

The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo is something where the nature of what Pro-Ject has achieved with it makes itself clearer over time. It is a world away from the original Debut in so many areas but it keeps the ethos intact. The original was an affordable audiophile turntable. This descendant is still an affordable audiophile turntable but one that makes more sense in the market that its ancestor helped to create. All the simplicity of design and setup is still here but it’s balanced against a level of performance and adaptability that befits its role in Pro-Ject’s range as a more ‘serious’ turntable. This is the best turntable available for less than £500 I’ve yet to test and the result is that the Debut Carbon Evo has to be seen as a Best Buy.

Noise level at idle are commendably low and that admirable pitch stability once running is reflected in absolutely unwavering tone, even on sustained piano notes and other tricky tests...the tonal realism across a wide spread of material is extremely good.

I'd venture so far as to say that this is some of the best analogue bass you can currently get your hands on for under £500 and it puts the Pro-Ject above many equivalently priced rivals.

OUTSTANDING - amongst the best.

Debut Carbon got off to a great start...kettle drum strikes were firm and clear and...there was a sense of perfect balance to the sound.

What I loved straight away however was the detail in the separation...we're talking high quality analogue here. I could hear right into the character of the kettle drum, enjoying its lovely resonant overhang. Superb straight away - and immediately musically engaging.

...believable musical instruments...beautifully in true and best analogue fashion.

...strong mid-band insight pushing out vocals and instruments vividly.

...kick drum...was firm and with powerful presence...assured performance.

The Debut Carbon Evo package is a good one and right up there at the top.

About the brand

Pro-Ject Audio Systems was founded in 1990 in Vienna, Austria, by Heinz Lichtenegger - a young audio enthusiast who believed that analogue playback was the most cost-effective way to listen to music in audiophile quality.

Heinz’s belief in the importance of the turntable came to prominence during a time when vinyl was at death’s door - with the CD revolutionising the wider audio market. However, Heinz stood firm and argued the case for not only analogue replay - but also for the pride and sense of ownership and interaction you simply do not get with digital media. So with this belief, he produced his first turntable - the Pro-Ject 1.

The Pro-Ject 1 was a cost-effective true hi-fi turntable, made at a time when other manufacturers were reverting to cheap plastic alternatives in order to satisfy the dwindling demand. The 1 was made at Pro-Ject’s factory in the Czech Republic (SEV Litovel), at a time when the factory owner was just in the process of shutting down all turntable production. Heinz convinced the factory to make his products, and to this day the same factory is used to produce Pro-Ject’s extensive range of coveted hi-fi turntables.
