Acrylic has excellent acoustic properties thanks to its high internal damping characteristics, which is why the material is commonly found throughout the audio industry. However, it needs careful partnering in a turntable to ensure the sound quality remains detailed and engaging. Pro-Ject's expert engineers therefore tested with various platter and tonearm solutions to ensure a perfect balance of acoustic excellence and aesthetic appeal.
Premium Components
The premium 10" tonearm offers accurate tracking across the entire record groove thanks to its longer length. Its one-piece aluminium tube construction ensures the tonearm is light and stiff, while free-movement across the playing surface is guaranteed by the ultra-low friction 4pin-point tonearm bearing assembly.
The tonearm draws inspiration from Pro-Ject's EVO tonearm range with its oversized bearing housing, allowing any unwanted resonances to be drawn away from the sensitive cables within the tube. Its also possible to adjust for accurate azimuth and VTA (vertical tracking angle) settings, as well as being finished with a TPE-damped counterweight and direct 5-pin connector for easy cable upgrades.
High-Efficiency
The drive system for the XA B features a superior AC synchronous motor, driven by a built-in DC/AC generator that effectively removes all the unwanted effects of external power supplies for smooth, clean power delivery. The motor drives a sub-platter system for a more elegant overall aesthetic. The sub-platter is mounted into a precision-engineered stainless steel main bearing surrounded by a brass bushing with 0.001mm engineering tolerance.
Once the 1.7kg aluminium main platter with TPE damping is installed, the turntable can deliver excellent rotational stability for reliable vinyl playback. For added convenience the three-position power switch allows for easy changing between 33 and 45 RPM.
Height adjustable damped feet
To maintain the right level of isolation and damping, the XA B is equipped with a set of three height-adjustable aluminium feet that encourages the positive damping characteristics of the acrylic plinth and effectively isolates the turntable from atmospheric vibrations.

The XA B is ready to be easily installed into any hi-fi system with a moving magnet phono stage after a quick and easy set-up process. Also included in the box is a Record Puck E, felt mat, Connect it E Phono 5P > RCA phono cable and a protective dust cover.
