The legendary Hyperion Loudspeaker from Rockport Technologies.
Finished in stunning High Gloss Black with all factory accessories.
The rarest of true utopian loudspeakers, these need no introduction...............
The Hyperion is a three-way, five driver loudspeaker whose custom, Audiotechnology drive units and Esotar tweeter are arranged in a D’Appolito configuration in symmetrical carbon fibre composite baffles.
The baffles are moulded from carbon fibre while the back is a special epoxy composite. It employs a pair of 13" drivers for bass, and two 6" for mid-range. All wiring by Transparent Audio.
What The Manufacturer Says
Hyperion is an ultimate-class Hi-End speaker system designed for music lovers who want to hear the best sound. It is a unique loudspeaker with no match among all other loudspeakers in the world.
The goal of real-world accurate image reproduction is regarded as the representation of the perfect loudspeaker, and this is achieved with Hyperion along with large scale and dynamic contrasts.
The flagship model of Rockport Technologies, Hyperion, consists of three completely separate modular structures, and the enclosure uses a composite of symmetrically damped Symmetric panels, carefully selected from high-strength MDF.
The side and back of the enclosure are bonded with two 19mm MDF composites (38mm in total), and a 12mm thick polymer-based damping agent is bonded with epoxy on the inner side to eliminate internal resonance and to have 8 times the strength of ordinary panels - the impossible, achieved.
Finally, an acrylic plate with a thickness of 6mm was attached to improve performance and increase the aesthetic effect. After this process, a total of 56mm thick side and rear side panels are completed.
On the outer side of the baffle side where the driver is mounted, the carbon fibre-epoxy composite shell, which is harder than aluminium, and the composite shell on the inner side are joined by a high-density polymer with a thickness of 30 mm. This composite shell structure is more than three times harder than fibreboard or MDF structures and has exceptionally high damping characteristics.
The use of this structure and material eliminates colouration due to internal resonance, and there is no change in sound quality that may occur due to vibration caused by the movement of the driver.
The graceful curve of the baffle face, the biggest feature of Hyperion, is essential for reducing diffraction, and it is finished with an inert felt fabric with a special pattern, laser-processed to eliminate even baffle reflections and secondary diffraction.
Basically, the phase-coaxial design of Hyperion provides excellent response characteristics both vertically and horizontally.
The bass driver, which is used for each channel, uses a 13" Mineral filled poly cone driver that is highly accurate in reciprocating motion according to the input signal and free from dynamic suppression.
The mid-range unit has a frequency response time of 1/10. Reduces inter modulation distortion further and uses a 6" Mineral filled poly cone driver with constant impedance response.
The driver was custom made to AUDIO TECHNOLOGY of Denmark to achieve the acoustic ideal of Rockport Technologies.
In addition, the ESOTAR, the best soft dome tweeter available, is used to convey complex harmony information and vivid impressions felt in the field.
Hyperion's frequency division is performed by a multi-stage circuit. This circuit allows the speaker to have excellent transition characteristics and minimal crossover characteristics.
Film/Foil capacitors used in the circuit were specially made for Rockport Technologies, and Alpha Core Foil inductor, Caddock Power resister, etc. were all used within the error range within 1%.
The entire unit is installed on a 1/2" thick aluminium base, and is finished with a specially treated epoxy to maintain mechanical stability and block the effects of the microphonic effect.
What Do Reviewers Think :
"Gorgeous tone colour, tremendous dynamic ease and authority, natural instrumental size and scale, and superb treble and bass extension.....if you have the moolah, they will take you about as close as you can come to the absolute sound" - Jonathan Valin / The Absolute Sound.
"At the recent CES Show, Tenor demonstrate their amplifier with Rockport Hyperion Loudspeakers, during my stay to the show........quite a few high end reviewers all agreed that it’s the best system they’ve ever heard at the CES – of all time, and Robert Harley even said that’s his favorite system after 30 years of search." - Tenor Audio.
"The Rockport Hyperion loudspeakers, powered by Tenor Audio's fantastic OTLs, were magic. Disc after disc not only sounded the way I know they can sound when everything is working just right; disc after disc sounded better than I'd heard them-airier, breathier, more detailed, more dynamic, more dense in colour, more natural in sound-staging, more like the real thing. Indeed, in terms of sheer realism (and utter beauty), this was it for me-and for many very experienced listeners who accompanied me to the Rockport room, the most flawlessly realistic loudspeaker system I've heard........the quest for the absolute sound may, after better than 30 years, have finally ended for this listener." - Audiophile Magazine - YK Chan.
"Golden Ear Awards represent, in our editors' collective opinion, the best highend audio products available regardless of cost. Products are awarded a Golden Ear purely on sonic performance. This is where you'll find the Rockport Hyperion loudspeakers." - Robert Harley - The Absolute Sound
