SME is delighted to introduce the Model 6 Classic with the highly credited M2-9R tonearm.

Following the successful launch of the Model 6 integrated turntable, the M2-9R tonearm version in now available.

The M2-9R tonearm offers design and engineering excellence built by enthusiasts for enthusiasts with extensive features including thumbwheel vertical tracking adjustment, tungsten balance weights, double draw-pin detachable headshell and azimuth adjustment.

The M2-9R tungsten alloy balance weight allows for a maximum centre of gravity shift to balance a greater range of cartridges up to 38g and with a direct plug-in head up to 46g.

The Model 6 Classic turntable is the same as the standard M2-9 version with a CNC machined chassis from a unique polymer high density resin material providing a high mass, small footprint, and superb resonance absorption, importantly delivering a unique sonic performance.

Main bearing, spindle and drive pulleys are precision made to the same exact standards as all SME high-end turntables. In addition, the Model 6 is equipped with a new generation highly sophisticated electronic speed control unit providing fine pitch speed adjustment within a wide band range.

A cosmetic enhancement of machined aluminium finishers fitted to the isolation feet complete the look of the Classic.

About us

SME was formed in 1946 under the name "The Scale Model Equipment Company" to manufacture scale models and parts for the model engineering trade. During the 1950s SME moved away from model making to precision engineering, principally parts for aircraft instruments and business machines.

In 1959 Alastair Robertson-Aikman, the Company's founder, required a pick-up arm for his own use and an experimental model was built. It received such an enthusiastic reception from friends in the sound industry that it was decided to produce it commercially and the first SME precision pick-up arm appeared in September 1959. At this time the company's name was changed to SME Limited, a less committal title to suit its new activities.

Delivery Information

Delivery is free for all orders over £250.

'In Stock' items ordered before 1pm will be dispatched the same day.

We use DPD Local 'Next Day Service' for most UK deliveries. Orders sent via 'DPD Local - Next Day Service' will be fully tracked with a 1-hour delivery timeslot on the day of delivery. Standard delivery is Monday to Friday.

Saturday delivery can be selected at checkout for £19.95.

Small items and LP's may be sent using Royal Mail.

Large/heavy items may be sent using TNT Express.

Occasionally, due to stock demand, we can sell out. If this occurs when you make a purchase, we will inform you quickly. Most out of stock items are available for dispatch within 3 working days. If your purchase is urgent, please contact us to check availability.
